Tanto per chiarire / Just to make it clear

This is a notebook -not really a blog- where I often relaunch interesting stuff I find roaming on the net.
I always try to link correctly the original sources. If anyway you find your stuff and want me to remove or correct it, please let me know at Stef@cutillo.eu

This is just a silly legal note to state that this (SURPRISE! SURPRISE!)
is not a newspaper or a news publication whatsoever.

About terrorists, fascists, what is sacred and the freedom of speech

Ok. I'll say it out loud and then stop. I'm fed up!
I see nothing sacred in any religion, but freedom of speech IS sacred to me.
If you say "screw freedom of speech" in any form, I won't come to  kill you (because I respect your right to free speech), but you will certainly lose my respect!

Why?

Because when you say that some things shouldn't be allowed to be said you are taking sides aside the terrorists of Paris, trying to silence people who are defending your right to express any nonsense you might want to say and are ready to put their lives in the line of mire to defend that right of yours.

The three jerks in Paris made a huge favour to fascists of all sorts, from Front National, to Al Qaeda and the Islamic State;  from the racists and xenophobic movements raising all over Europe to the most radical fringes in Israel.

All these jerks are yelling but none of them is listening.
How many among those calling for "all Muslims to condemn the attacks" realised that even a non-moderate like Hezbollah's leader Nasrallah already did condemn the attacks without the need of anyone pushing him to do so?

The way I see it, Marie Le Pen, Anders Breivnik and the self proclaimed Calif of ISIL are on the same side.

I am on the side of the ones who remember that our ancestors built a world (or at least a region) of human rights and personal freedom thanks to free press, free speech and free satirical comments which cannot be respectful, since their purpose is to question what others want to be unquestionable.

Questioning. Not forbidding!

So yes: freedom of speech (and of satirical speech) is sacred to me.
And if you say "Screw freedom of speech. It should respect religious feelings" I won't come kill you, but you can screw yourself!

Are you offended? Well. I'm fed up with people who think they have the exclusive right of offending others' principles!
